What a bad bad past few days it had been. Since I last posted, so much has happened... negatively. My worst fears became reality on Thur afternoon. Stoopid adrian (I dun even put caps for his name now) promised to bring us go see the house on Thur morning. As expected, he failed to call us. When I called up, he said he'll call me back. When he did (in the afternoon) it was with bad news. Told us that the landlord wanted more $$ again, and that he was pulling out of the deal.
So irresponsible lor! We were going to move in on Fri, and Thur afternoon they tell us we're not getting the house... summore after a deposit has been paid! And what really made my blood boil (still bubbling now lor) was how rude the fat bastard adrian was lor... he broke the agreement.. nva mind.. then still talk like we owed him something! Said the deal was off, it wasn't his fault, that he didn't want to deal with the landlord anymore.. then said he had nothing else for us! all just half a day before we were due to move in! talk about service eh! And he made us sound like we were begging him to find us something else! Bloody hell... but he still didn't help. And from start to end.. not a word of apology. So rude!! And when Yingyi and Wenseen went to collect the deposit back, he just shoved the money at them without even looking at them or talking to them! I wonder how dis kind of person can survive in this business! And it wasnt just us. He was supposed to pass Jack's group their keys at their new house yesterday... but he just conveniently absented himself without telling anyone again while Jack's group waited there! Luckily they met their landlord.. who let them into the house.
Well anyways dunno whose fault la... the landlord who's greedy beyond words, or stoopid fatty adrian who gobbles money but fail to deliver service... in any case we were left stranded on the roadside... frantically calling various property agents. But none had anything for viewing over the weekend, not to say move in the next day! Luckily we stil had one last backup plan... Jenny the nice laydee who brought us to see houses the 1st few days. We hadn't contacted her since, but fortunately she was still nice enuff to arrange for us to view the houses again immediately! Really quite sweet of her lor... and thanks to her... we had settled for another house late on Thursday! Whew after all this hassle... we stil came back to her.
Aniweis... looking on the brighter side, our new house is much better in many ways. We're much nearer to Jeff's house, so can go to work and buy groceries together more easily; also we've a better landlord... we managed to catch a glimpse of him yest and he seemed pretty nice... not like the greedy antHORNY Way one; we've a much nicer agent who bothers to drive us around in her convertible, and truly cares (even thou she too doesnt reply to emails and smses and we can only find her by calling her! maybe dats really the culture here?); more imptly.. we've an extra toilet in this house, so we wun be fighting to use the single bathroom in the morning! The internal decor is not as nice though, and there's no security system nor phoneline in place... but I guess we'll do fine without these la! Just glad evrthing got sorted out finally.
Well after the house issue got sorted out, the nxt prob was where we're going to stay next week! U see the new house will only be ready earliest next wkend ah... its all messy inside cos the current tenant left it in a very bad state.. and there was even a pet snake they abandoned inside! Luckily we had really nice pals here.. Jeff's and Jack's groups both offered to let us lodge with them in them meantime, and in fact our nice agent offered to rent out rooms in her house too! Jieli and I chose to stay with Jeff for the week, while Yingyi and Wenseen are taking a room from Jenny (the agent).
The next issue... moving house! Jack's group, Jeff's group and our group joined forces and rented a car yesterday to move! It was a tad expensive cos we were all not comfortable with manual cars, and had to take an automatic one.. Then so many luggages, so we had to take a big car. Saab estate car it was, and we spent the whole day lugging our bags and cases downstairs in this old house, up the car, off the car and upstairs into the gals room at Jeff's house! And we went Tesco for a shopping spree too! Bot most our necessary household items since we had the car at our disposal. Bot pillows and bedlinen too... wah the pillows here really very soft lor! u lie down u can almost feel the mattress le! But we chose the firmest ones we cud find, and I was up to my bargaining tactics again... and managed to get a 6pd discount off the bill!
We're still sticking around in Colnbrook till Sunday though, to make the most of our temp "chalet" and the net access here (thou its ever so intermittent! even as i type I keep getting connected and disconnected!)
Alrite... so many angry words later... I thk I shd leave some images hor? Have a look at the pasta Jieli and I cooked yesterday! Unhealthy as usual... instant sauce just heated up... egg spaghetti boiled to a nice tangy texture.. haha BUT... it was not very nice leh.. not enuff flavour I thk... hehe serves us right for choosing the cheepest sauce in Tesco! Okie I admit that I'm really not taking care of myself here... well at least for these 2 weeks la.. make do 1st la.. we'll start cooking proper food once we move in! My dry throat is better le thou I still sound farnie.. but I've a slight coff now...*coff coff*
^^^ This was (believe it or not) my National Day dinner.. mango curry chicken rice! Oyahor... Happie Belated 42nd Bdae Singapore... so proud of uuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!
