Ha I'm finally back online!! The Virgin Mobile person finally came to install the box today... so entertainment's finally arrived in the house... cable tv and broadband! Waited for so long lor... the sales agent promised us last Fri then disappeared after collection our cash... evil as many UK people are... just too like the HSBC people.. I went in 3 times to chk if my pin order is going ok... evrtime they said ok... till the 4th time... then they really went to check, and told me the order was not registered in the system!! Not a word of apology summore. By then I'd quite got used to the service std in UK... lodged an official complaint, and they promised someone will be in touch within 3 working days... now 7 days le... not one whisper from the bank... shd I lodge against my unanswered complaint? Haiyah suan le ba... I give up... no wonder they need a bank holiday (coming Monday). Evrthing in the country grinds to a halt (not as if things move fast here in the first place) as the banks rush abt completing unfinished business!
Aniwei our new house is pretty nice! The week at Jeff's house on the floor was tough on my creaky back, but the wait was definitely worth it! Thanks Jeff and gang by the way, for putting us up when we needed a roof over our heads! Aniwei Jenny and the landlord really put much effort into our house lor... can tell... new flooring, new tv cabinet, new beds, new carpet (well not really new la... but moved in from his other properties). We took 2 days to mop and wipe the place down.. I kena the clean freak bug from my granny and started scrubbing at every cabinet and window lor... but after all the hard work the place is spanking clean now! Visitors welcome.. waiting for you guys to come over loh!
My room's super duper small thou.. hardly space to manoeuvre... and my bags are still strewn all over the floor cos my the landlord's taking real long with my wardrobe! Hopefully it's something nice when it finally arrives (*crosses fingers*) Small as it is... I'm gonna make it cosy when the wardrobe finally comes!
Jieli's wardrobe is really nice lor! almost brand new... big and so many compartments... now his sleeping quarters (the living room!) looks like a studio apartment laid out for him!
There're still quite a few probs with the house too.. Yingyi and Wenseen both complaining their beds are too soft... we've got a bathroom missing a lock and 2 bedroom cabinets with fallen-off doors, a bathroom towel rack which has collapsed and a dirty oven, a vacuum cleaner missing the hose and a smoke detector which keeps us awake with its beeping, 2 kitchen cabinets hanging precariously on their hinges and a fridge shelf broken... haha evidently the previous tenants were either trolls or giants lor... so rough one destroyed all the furniture! Well but slowly things are getting done lah... I just hope my wardrobe is the next thing to be settled thou.. I wanna unpack my bags!! Well in any case we're still really so grateful to Jenny for helping us out so much... After that kuku adrian played us out.. if not for her we'd have really been in deep trouble ah! Although Jenny herself often played the disappearing act, we could really feel her sincerity lor.. so I tried hard to build up a personal realationship between us and her. We bought a cake and an apple crumble for her yesterday, and she was so pleasantly surprised! Glad we managed to put abit of joy in her bad day (she'd just lost a court case in London). Haha and she was so astonished to see all our appliances in the kitchen which we've brot from S'pore! Plus my cabinet full of S'pore snacks!
Haha the cabinet's really my pride manz... I only realised after packing my stuff in that I brought so much food from S'pore! The packets of Pocky and Collon in my rice cooker, the packets of noodles in my box, the oreo and milo in my luggage... I'm quite surprised myself manz.. haha budden I saw Yingyi's stuff are all packets of herbs for making soup... den quite ashamed ah brot so much junk food haha!
Oh and after a few days... I've realised Wen Seen and Yingyi can both cook very well! Haha well so u guys no need to worry that I'll eat instant food for 18mths le... summore they're very healthy lor... evr meal cook so much veggies! Well I dun really like it, but I got no choice but to eat (yups I do eat the veggies too!) Ha so in a way its good training for me! Definitely following a more healthy diet here than I did in S'pore lor... with the veggies and less fried stuff, and with much more fruits too! And oyah I'm jogging quite abit too! The weather really nice still... but its starting to get abit cold and rainy these few days... hope the sun stays ard for awhile longer.. cos it really is pretty quite nice running here... good environment, nice climate, and u dun sweat!
Aniweis in the office, we're getting on alrite... still lots and lots of reading.. starting to fall aslp more and more often... the free cuppucino from the vending machine obviously has no effect on me lor! The trips down to the plant are much more interesting though... Had some training on aseptic techniques, cleaning cabinets and pouring stuff from bottle to bottle aseptically (aseptic means no contamination to the product whatsoever... apparently its v impt in lonza cos their pdts are to be injected into the bloodstream of patients) Learnt much more in the lectures and practicals than I did dozing over the SOPs.. and I even got 94% for 2 tests yesterdae ah haha! And our trainer is very nice! Very friendly, and even offered to lend me her sleeping bag when she heard I was sleeping on the floor at Jeff's place! Wah but when she's with Joseph and Freddy they really tok kok nonstop lor! Wah and ya tokking abt the evil duo... I kena suaned and bullied by em evrday... buay tahan ah!!
Can't wait for the shift system to actually start... gonna get really xiong the work... but at least we'll have more off days to go travelling! The shift schedule should be out next week... still dunno whether to do Mon-Wed plus alternate Fri or Wed-Fri plus alternate Mon leh... and also thking of taking up a German course. It's quite expensive thou.. and gotta go London evr week. Maybe I'll go find something nearer to us to take ba... aniwei I'm taking for knowledge and not the cert mah... working in a Swiss company... a 'lil German wun hurt at all I guess!
As for travelling... havent had the chance at all!! So buzzy with work and sorting out our house and my bank account and the broadband contract that I've been so super tired juz dragging myself about my chores evrday. This weekend long weekend summore! (Rem the bank holiday for the slackers to catch up on their work?) But we havent done any planning ahead so cant get a proper itinery out in time. Wanted to go Wales but we couldn't find accomodation, and the train tix were way too exp being so last min. So we're taking a long walk to Eton College and then to Windsor tomorrow... Eton is supposedly some famous sch where the royals send their kids... and nearby Windsor Castle is where the Queen stays! So yups we're going royal tmr! Sunday will be exiciting thou! They've a Notting Hill Carnival in London... UK equivalent of Chingay... Europe's largest street festival evidently! We're going for that... hopefully can get a good taste of the local culture! Gonna need to watch our wallets thou. Then Monday a Lonza senior invited us to her house for a gathering. So yups thou we're not going far, at least got this weekend planned out le!
