We're finally earning our allowance proper! Work started officially for us today, and EDB started paying us officially.. which is a relief because it was really unsettling to be spending so much the past 2 weeks while knowing we were not getting paid for that duration.

Well after being chased out of our temp. accomodation, we shifted our remaining stuff to Jeff's place at Cippenham, courtesy of our agent Jenny! She's really such a sweet laydee ah... trying her best to help us settle in here. We can see that this agent really cares. To think that she took the trouble to send us and fetch us so many times, and came over to help us drive our stuff to Jeff's place. Without her we'd have been stuck lor... what with the bus frequency at 0 on Sundays... yesh buses dun run on Sundays here!

^^^ Jieli and I with the family who took us in!

To show our gratitude to Jenny I suggested treating her to our fave Dragon Gate chinese buffet! And she was surprisingly onz for it! Later learnt that she actually likes Chinese food, and she said she's good at cooking rice! And she laughed so loud when she heard that we actually brought appliances like a rice cooker, a hot plate, a kettle and a slow cooker here! Well to my knowledge we can't find rice cookers here mah! Really enjoyed ourselves luffing over lunch... it's good to build on the personal relationship with Jenny... worth it lah with her being so nice to us! Jieli and I stuffed ourselves full again... we were oredi not hungry in the 1st place having been emptying the fridge's contents into our stomachs in the morning... all the "reduced-to-clear" sandwiches.... *burpz* yet I still went for a full blown dessert round after 2 overflowing, carnivorous plates!

Which was why we din have dinner last nite again. The gas stove in Jeff's new house isnt working, so they cooked instant noodles in their rice cooker! Their house is pretty nice. Jenny as usual was very particular about the decoration, and I was pretty impressed that she wanted to change their kitchen curtains for them on her own accord becos they were abit short!

Really do hope our house will be as nice as Jeff's! Well with Jenny helping us, I guess that is achievable ba.. starting from removing the snake! Hopefully we get to move in by this weekend. It's really not nice to impose on Jeff's group for so long. Summore its q mafan cos we cannot really unpack our luggage. And last nite sleeping on the small sofa was completely terrible! Though it was a really short couch, I thot I could curl up in a fetus position and it'd be fine. Well how wrong I was! Curled up but my back started to hurt.. stretched out my legs over the arms of the sofa, and it got numb, then I pulled my legs back and stretched my head outside of the sofa, then my upper back started to hurt! Ha and to make it worse, I was coffing thruout the nite! Made for a very bad nite's rest!

As a result, I was totally zombified today. Managed to stay awake thru the many many lectures and filling in all the necessary forms, but after work when we went to Asda's for some grocery shopping it got really bad and I actually started to get teary and dizzy! But it got better after dinner so I guess I'm fine now ;p

Well aniwei.. highlights of my 1st day at work!

- The lectures aren't much of a highlight are they..

- Vending machines with free drinks in Lonza... absolutely rocks! No need to eat breakie liao haha!!

- Our manufacturing trainers treated us to lunch! Had chicken korma and rice (instant one la... still 2pds thou!) which was alot of curry gravy and a few pieces of tuff chicken breast meat.. I was too paiseh to take out my camera to take a shot in front of evrone thou ;p

- Evidently ours were the only bosses who treated us to lunch!

- However we realised the "canteen" wasn't really a "canteen" in Singaporean terms..it's more like a pantry with tables and chairs and vending machines dispensing instant meals and drinks. Quite disappointed at that everyone was... so we actually have to pack lunch in evrday one ah! We were actually hoping for stalls selling proper food, but were told to give up dat hope :(

- We got to state our preference for our department! And... after talking to Jeff and Francis about the prospects and my position (no bio backgrd!), I chose Purification! Haha another reason was of cos the chance to work shifts, which meant longer (12hr) wking days, but more free days to travel!

- Oh and talking about Francis, I finally met our Lonza senior for the 1st time! Haha nice to meet u Francis! Thanks for all your advice so far too!

We were off work by 4.30pm, but waited for Jieli and the QC gals till 5.45pm. Then we walked to Asda to do some grocery shopping. Dinner was bot from Asda. We were really out of ideas on what to eat! Jieli had too many sandwiches recently then refused to eat anymore bread. The stove isnt working so we couldnt cook. But luckily we still had our amazing rice cooker! So in the end we bot 2 whole chickens and a box of potato wedges to share with Jeff's grp, and we cooked rice to go with it! Charles threw in a packet of samosas too, so in the end it was still quite a proper meal!

^^ Wedges and samosas (tasted a tad sour..weird indian taste!) and our big british chicken!

And we'll have proper food for lunch tmr too! We cooked extra rice to pack into lunch boxes, and we chopped up one of the chickens.. a quarter each ah!!! Plus a hard boiled egg.. not bad lah hor :) Plus I still have the big big apple Lim Lee gave me. Thanks again ah... I promise I'll eat it by tmr! ;p

Alrite then... time to zzz le! Must report for training by 8am tmr.. shift wun start for the next 6 weeks cos it'll all be 8-4.30pm training for the initial period! Gonna get back the sleep I missed last nite.. sleeping on the floor in Jeff's room tonite.. hope it's better!
