A thousand apologies for disappearing from webspace for the past 2 weeks! As many of you might know by now.. I managed to murder my laptop, my companion for the past 4.5 years! Its all quite tragic really.. I fell aslp while uploading pictures the night after my last entry, and fell aslp. In my sleep I gave it a shove, and off it flew from the edge of my bed to the floor, landing with a thunderous thud and jolting the whole household awake.. well the next day it briefly came back to life when I tried to start it. But it went brain-dead after awhile, and when I tried to restart it.. that's when I could pronounce it dead.
Since then I had been in the market to find a new comp..the laptops here are actually quite cheep! I'd say cheaper even than S'pore. But their specs are not that good, and worst thing is.. their warranty is quite bad.. 1 year local... and knowing the kind of service standards u can expect here.. I (hopefully wisely) opted to get one from Dell in S'pore. Specs were the best I could find, and I upgraded to a 3-yr international warranty..for $1700+.. I thot that was pretty reasonable.. okie lah Dell maybe the quality abit suspect, but hopefully the on-site warranty will cover me ba! So I'm just waiting for Jieli's dad to help me bring at the end of the month! In the meantime I can only get to use the comp when Jieli's gg to sleep or when Yingyi goes bathe, or on my off days, like today!
Off days are boring as usual.. sleep till 12noon everytime cos I never get more than 5hrs of slp on my working days.. then it would be a flurry of fone calls, some packing of my room, then time to cook le! Running out of ideas on what to cook oredi. Last week I did steamed fish (3 pieces for 10p! I bot reduced mah..), marinated in Lao Gan Ma and Belachan.. turned out not bad! Later I'm just gonna do luncheon meat omelette and long beans fried with diced pork... keep it simple today... cos I'm gg London to watch Lord of the Rings later!! Its a musical actually, not the movie version. Just curious about how they can put all the effects and graphics of the show onto stage. The reviews have been quite good, so go take a look lor.. aniweis the tics were really cheap! 21pounds for a tic and dinner at a restaurant.. seemed like a good deal, so I snatched it up!
Speaking of my household, all 4 of us kena diarrhoea the past 2 days ah! Dunno why, but should be something with the food ba.. Dunno why I keep eating those expired stuff no prob.. then now proper food can cause such upsets! Neh.. its not a prob with expired food lah... last nite I juz went Asda and bought more! I noe the trick le.. evr Wed nite there'll be alot of stuff to clear at ard 9pm one.. so I'll go at dis time nowadays..
But last nite during my trip there.. another bad experience.. I was speaking the other time about how there're so many racists here and pple who look down on us.. well I got quite feddup at one of those bastards last nite ah! he's one of the staff doing the reductions, and each and evrtime we go he'd stand there passing very sacarstic remarks when we walk past.. When I went last Wed he was saying "oh look tonight he's very happy.. there's lots of cheap stuff for him" then he was laughing at Carine with another bastard that "she comes everyday".. and when I put back a bag of oranges last nite and he exclaimed "that's too expensive for him!", I just lost it.. I'd ignored him for so many weeks, but once he made that personal attack, I just blew up.. I went up to him and told him if he thinks I'm buying reduced stuff cos I'm too poor to afford anything else he's very wrong.. he gave me a very dumb smirk, and I walked off in disgust.. later I was stil bloody angry at him so I hunted him down and asked for his name.. that's when he started to look abit alarmed (haha bloody serves him right!) he mumbled something.. tried to make it as unclear as possible.. then waddled off with his trolley. Didn't really matter, cos I went to the customer service counter and lodged an official complant. the ladies there were quite stunned to see me all red with anger, and dey were nice enuff to bring me go identify the bastard.. I literally wrote an essay on the feedback form about customer rights and racial equality and service standards.. though I really doubt anything will be done about it at all, given the level of customer svc here.. I wun be surprised if nothing is done at all, but if dat bastard pass those insults again I'll make sure I blow up the whole matter.. how to I still dunno though... anyone has any suggestions??
Wooh paiseh I got quite agitated just typing that previous paragraph... but such snobbishness, rudeness and bad attitude really gets me on my nerves lor.. especially when it's coming from service personnel. Whew *calm down calm down!*
In any case, there isn't much to do nowadays apart from going to Asda le ah.. the curtains finally came down on the soccer season last week. I got to play quite a large part of the final match, but still didn't manage to break my scoring duck.. well most of the time I was in defence aniweis.. but I did enjoy myself lah.. totally challenged... even though we lost it in the end. After the match there was a post-season party. Some nice sandwiches, pizzas and chips were on the table and that was dinner settled haha! Quite sad though that there's no more soccer sessions liaoz.. even amongst the STRATs here the interest is waning with the weather turning cold. So my only exercise nowadays is running, and the occasional basketball game with Jieli, Jack and Jeff.. wah all the Js hor! haha but its quite fun to start playing bball again after so many yrs out of the game! Jieli super inspired by Slam Dunk (he's so hopelessly hooked onto anime now he loses sleep just to watch them!) and keep going to train on his shooting and reverse layups all by himself! I'm trying to be disciplined in running more.. and I realised its much more enjoyable to run in the cool climate here.. though initially the thin cold wafts of air entering your brain can give you quite a headache ah.. well its still a dream to run in the marathon next year.. hopefully I can realise that dream.. haha to do it I gotta train!
